Despite industrialization, the city has the old charm of narrow alleys and crammed markets that co-exist harmoniously with high-tech malls and new planned city. The city has various Parks, Museums, Art Galleries, movie theaters, multi-cuisine restaurants, international food chains and yes Lakes!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Though the city was founded by Paramara King Bhoj (1000-1055) and was initially named Bhojpal, it has a mixed culture of both Hindus and Muslims and both the communities have been living at peace since ages. It was the rule of Begums in the 19th century that gave Bhopal a foundation of its Golden Age. They invested in public works and took care of their subjects. Buildings like the Jama Masjid and the Gohar Mahal are of those times. They gave the city a considerable mark in architecture, arts, music, poetry, and craft.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Today, Bhopal remains a place of considerable beauty with its two lakes that still dominate the city. These lakes are bordered by old city, marketplace, mosques and palaces, the new city with its exquisite parks and gardens, modern buildings and avenues.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/2016.bhopal.wordcamp.org\/files\/2016\/09\/13529004_10208137768854487_6973916072265961051_n.jpg\" width=\"960\" height=\"413\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><b>Where to Shop<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">From traditional handicrafts to shimmery purses, fancy shoes, jewelry, household items and more, Bhopal&#8217;s street side shopping experience is fun and meets the demands of every customer with diverse tastes and preferences. The shopping bazaars are also well-stocked with food stalls serving chaat, samosas, kachoris, fruit juice and ice-cream.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">So as the city sets for spring, here&#8217;s where you can shop till you drop. These places have everything you ever want to shop. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>What to Visit<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Places of Historical Importance<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/igrms.gov.in\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Manav Sangrahalaya<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (Museum of Mankind), situated at Shyamla Hills an open-air exhibition that depicts the story of mankind in time and space. <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/bharatbhawan.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Bharat Bhavan<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is a center for the performing and visual arts. There is a museum of the arts, an art gallery, a workshop for fine arts, a repertory theatre, indoor and outdoor auditoria, rehearsal room, and libraries of Indian poetry, classical and folk music. The <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/mptribalmuseum.com\/index.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tribal Museum<\/span> <\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">depicts the tribal life, art, mythology of M.P. and Chhattisgarh. Located on a hill near the upper lake, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Van Vihar<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is a place to enjoy serene and peaceful atmosphere among the sweet murmurs of birds on the trees and around it are the many wild animals like Tiger, Leopard, and Panther are a treat to watch.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Located in the picturesque Shyamala Hills is the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/rscbhopal.gov.in\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Regional Science Center<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. This center houses about 300 science exhibits in \u2018Invention\u2019 and \u2018Fun Science\u2019 galleries. Stargazing sessions are organized for those who want to to have a real close view of luminous bodies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">War Memorial<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Shaurya Smarak was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on 14 October 2016. It is dedicated to galleries and landmark in the memory of war heroes of various wars with China and Pakistan. Temples and mosques are built in marvelous architecture and are ornately decorated on all the sides. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Asia\u2019s largest mosque &#8211; Taj-ul-Masajid is situated in Bhopal along with Moti Masjid. The Jain temple at Bhojpur has a 6-meter-tall statue of Bhagwan Shantinath and two statues of Bhagwan Parshvanath (left) and Bhagwan Suparshvanatha (right).
