Why can’t WordCamp be free for everyone?

WordPress is free and open-source, and we’d love for WordCamp to be free too. But when there’s no fee, many people register and don’t show up. That makes it hard to plan and deliver a great experience.

So, we’ve added a small pass fee to help with attendance and logistics. WordCamp is run by volunteers, not for profit—and every rupee goes straight into making the event better for you.
