This year, for WordCamp Bhopal 2025, we wanted a Wappu that truly feels Bhopali at heart — warm, relaxed, full of character, and always ready for a cup of chai.

Why This Wappu Is Uniquely Bhopali
Our design celebrates the cultural soul of Bhopal — the City of Lakes — while capturing the welcoming and joyful personality of our WordPress community.
Here’s what makes this Wappu truly special:
Kulhad of Hot Chai
Nothing says “Bhopal” like a steaming kulhad in hand. Our Wappu enjoys his chai the local way — earthy, aromatic, and comforting. It’s a nod to the conversations, networking, and friendships that spark over shared cups of tea at WordCamp.
Cool Sunglasses, Cooler Vibes
Wappu’s signature sunglasses are back! Whether it’s cruising across Bhopal’s Upper Lake or soaking in a knowledge-packed WordCamp session, he does it in style.
Boat (Shikara) on Bhojtal (Upper Lake)
Instead of standing or holding props, our Wappu is seated in a traditional wooden boat — a shikara style boat, paying a tribute to Bhopal’s iconic lakes and the city’s calm, laid-back charm. Because if there’s one place that captures the spirit of Bhopal, it’s the scenic, timeless Bhojtal. Worth to mention here, Upper Lake now offers delightful shikara rides, along with unique shopping experience at the floating market.
Tribal & Cave Art Motifs from Bhimbetka
Wappu is wearing a brown vest adorned with cave-style figures inspired by the prehistoric rock shelters of Bhimbetka — a UNESCO World Heritage site right here in Madhya Pradesh. These designs represent creativity, storytelling, and humanity’s oldest forms of communication — much like WordPress does today in the digital age.
Traditional Red Cap
A subtle touch of local attire adds warmth and identity to the character, giving him that classic “Bhopali tehzeeb” feel.
